Geist Leather Conditioner is designed for leather that is no longer new. It is a microemulsion of oil and water that quickly penetrates dry leather by overcoming surface tension. It can reduce or even reverse shrinkage caused by moisture loss and increase the tear resistance of older leathers.
What happens after 3 years?
After approximately 3 years, the leather fibers begin to lose moisture. This is a gradual process that causes the leather fibers to slowly shrink and increases tension in the seams. The surface often feels harder because the polymers in the surface finish gradually lose flexibility.
Microscopic cracking after about 3 years is common and is a known part of the aging process.
How does this product help?
Geist Conditioner incorporates anti-shrink technology: a micro-emulsion of oil and water containing penetration enhancers, which quickly penetrate the deep layers of dry leather, overcoming surface tension and with a high affinity for leather fibers. It can reduce or even reverse shrinkage caused by moisture loss and increases the tear resistance of aged leathers.
Instructions:
- Spray Geist Leather Conditioner onto a lint-free cloth and spread evenly over the cleaned, coated leather surface. Allow it to penetrate slowly, away from heat or sunlight.
- To maintain softness, apply after each cleansing treatment or once every 3 months.
- To restore old or hardened leather, reapply more frequently and massage into the surface.
